Murder of Tommy Ballard

On November 19, 2016 — just over a year after Crystal's disappearance — Tommy took his 12-year-old grandson out for an early morning hunting trip on the family's property along Ed Brent Lane near the Blue Grass Parkway in Nelson County. He was shot once in the chest, a single bullet ending his life in front of his young grandson. Police originally called it a hunting accident.
